Business Technology Solutions

Small to Medium Business Specialist

In addition to our work in the IT support arena, we offer a full range of consulting options. C:Support's consultants and project managers combine expert technical skills with a thorough an understanding of business processes. If you’re looking for advice on how your IT can help drive your business forward, we can help.
We are aware that no two businesses, large or small are exactly the same, so we apply the knowledge and experience we have developed over the years, through working for some of the larger companies in our portfolio, offering solutions that are relevant to your business size and sector. We are also happy to work alongside existing IT teams, or provide a complete, independently managed service tailored specifically for you.
Although we primarily focus on the SMB (Small to Medium Business) sector, we have assisted large compaines as needed. We are not in the business of upgrading networks for the sake of it. Where possible, we would rather optimise your existing systems. However, a network or server migration can increase function, productivity and security. If a business advantage can be identified, we are well-qualified to help.

Spam Filtering

Spam has become a huge problem worldwide. Approximately 60% of all email sent to email accounts is considered spam and each day approximately 12 billion spam messages are sent worldwide. In past years, we have recommended the use of spam/junk mail tools in Eudora and MSOutlook,  which helped to some degree, but did not really improve with time. We now have a spam filtering service in place, that is smart, and gets smarter by the minute.

The spam filtering service works before the mail is delivered to your inbox, very similar to the email virus scanning service that most people currently use on PCs and Servers. Your email is scanned by the spam server and all "spam-like" emails are placed in quarantine. Each day you receive an email from our Spam server that allows you to review the messages that have been placed in quarantine. If, by chance, any non-spam (false positives) messages were placed in quarantine, you can use the list to  "Allow" these messages through to your inbox.

This spam filtering product we use, has about 60,000 "rules" for determining a spam score for each message, and then quarantines messages accordingly. We have configured the server in a conservative, yet effective, way so that the chance of a "false positive" is very low. Please keep in mind that no solution will eliminate spam from your inbox. It is impossible to block every one of these messages, but overall, if you use our services, you will see an immediate improvement.

Remote Backup

How Valuable is Your Data?

Too often, many small businesses rely on an employee to back up the data to tape, external hard drive or burnable CD/DVD. While this backup is better than nothing, it is seriously flawed. Most of the time, the employee forgets to backup the data. Also, the problem with these backup procedures is that if your data is corrupt, you will more than likely overwrite your last good backup with corrupt data during your next backup. Then, when you need to restore good data, there is none. 50% of tape backups are not successful.
